The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research and to provide and enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers.
Description:
The Alzheimer's Association Central and North Florida Chapter offers educational programs including Alzheimer's 101, Maintain Your Brain, EASE: Early Alzheimer's Support and Education, Law Enforcement Training, Caregiver Conferences, State-Required training for professionals by certified trainers, The O'Gara Lending Library, and the ABC's of Memory Loss series. The Chapter also offers support through a 24/7 Helpline -- 1-800-272-3900, Support Groups for caregivers, information and referral, as well as Medic Alert and the Alzheimer's Association Safe Return program for the 6 out of 10 people with dementia who wander. To fund these programs and services, the Central and North Florida Chapter holds Memory Walks in Orlando, Volusia, Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Ocala. Volunteers are critical to making the Memory Walks successful and can participate in a number of ways, including planning, soliciting sponsors, set up, staffing registration on the day of the walks and much more.
