Seniors are in danger of losing their independence and connection to the community once they can no longer drive. They often are reluctant to ask friends, neighbors and relatives for a ride to medical appointments, church, social functions, community events or their volunteer job. ITNOrlando provides door through door transportation services for these wonderful members of our community.
Description:
Using a combination of volunteers and part-time paid drivers, ITNOrlando provides a dignified transportation option for those 60+ years of age and adults with visual impairments. Riding members schedule a ride to go wherever they want within our service area, bounded by Michigan Street on the south, SR 434 on the north, Semoran Blvd on the east and OBT/Forest City Road on the West. As a volunteer driver, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the life of a senior. You can earn credits for your own use of the service later on, give your credits to a family member or friend, or receive a cash reimbursement for your mileage when you have a passenger. Our riding members have reported how grateful they are to the volunteers for this service. Please consider giving just three hours per month to make a huge difference in the life of a senior in your neighborhood!
