Help Now of Osceola, Inc. provides safe shelter and empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence through counseling and advocacy while promoting violence free living through community awareness. Our vision is to eradicate violence and abuse in our community.

Description:
In 1980, a group of volunteers trained and supervised We Care, Inc., an established Orlando-based crisis line, began an Osceola county hotline, to be known as Help Now of Osceola. Osceola Mental Health, Inc., provided supervision, funding and office space to the program. Additional funds were obtained through community and business contributions and fundraisers. Help Now of Osceola was incorporated in January. In response to an unmet need that had been tediously documented by hotline calls, Help Now began working toward the development of an Osceola County domestic violence shelter. Money was raised through individual and corporate donations. Guidance for the fledgling organization was provided by Spouse Abuse, Inc.--an established, HRS certified serving both Orange and Seminole counties. While perhaps best known for our shelter, Help Now also has an Outreach location and transitional housing facility. We continue to provide a safe refuge while providing, counseling, both for adults and children, case management, safety planning, legal advocacy, injunction assistance, life skills training and parenting classes. We have moved beyond "simply" a shelter into a full scale, comprehensive Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center.
