To "support individuals and families in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties by offering an array of crisis services for young people and adults".
Description:
Lifeline(formerly We Care Crisis Center)was the first crisis center in the southeastern United States and has served as a model for the development of other crisis centers. As documented in the book "Crisis Intervention in the Community", all of the crisis centers in the Southeast after ours developed in clusters, sharing developmental influence through our agency. The agency was founded in 1965 under the auspices of the Mental Health Association, and was a pioneer in establishing new services in response to community needs-indeed, Spouse Abuse (now Harbor House), Centaur, and Overeaters Anonymous all had their beginnings at LifeLine. As both LifeLine and the Central Florida grew and evolved, LifeLine directed our focus to providing responsive and high quality crisis services to the community. Both our rich history as a trendsetter in the regional development of crisis centers and our most recent five-year re-certification by the American Association of Suicidology distinguish LifeLine as Central Florida's "experts" in crisis intervention and suicide assessment, intervention, and aftercare.
