HOME is a proactive community–based effort to comprehensively address the causes and break the cycle of homelessness in Osceola County.

Description:
The HOME residential program is open to women with children who are homeless in Osceola County. Families will live on campus anywhere from 6-12 months as they work to become self-sufficient. We provide life skills education, case management, and linkage to employment and education resources. On-site counseling and tutoring is also available. Residents contribute a portion of their earnings toward program costs and are required to save a significant amount towards independent housing. Once a family graduates from the program we continue to provide case management to ensure their stability in the community.

How families become homeless?

Osceola County's service-based economy means that many families here live on the edge. These families often resort to pay-by-the-week motels to keep a roof over their head. They can't afford to put a deposit on an apartment and have little to no savings. If the earner in the family becomes ill, has no transportation, or loses their job, they may be just days away from living on the street. Unfortunately, steep weekly rent prevents families from saving enough money to move on to a better living situation. The motels lack kitchen facilities, adequate space for children to complete schoolwork, and are frequently in less than safe parts of our community. With just a little support and a decent place to live, we can empower these families to become self-sufficient.
