The Alzheimer Resource Center strives to lighten the burden and improve the quality of life for families devastated by Alzheimer's disease through educational counseling, support services research and hope.
Description:
The Alzheimer Resource Center focuses on the often forgotten victim of Alzheimer's disease - the caregiver. From the beginning of the caregiver's journey to the end, our goal is to provide compassionate and caring support services. Our services include information and referral, support groups in the tri-county area, educational conferences, quarterly workshops, wellness activities, educational & supportive counseling and our Brain Bank Research Program. The center coordinates the State of Florida Brain Bank Program for 15 counties in Central Florida. This program not only allows participants to assist researchers in finding a cure, but provides the family with a definitive diagnosis of their loved one's illness. Individuals suffering from any form of dementia who have received a complete neurological workup are eligible to participate. Please call Martha Purdy at 407-843-1910 for specific information. The Alzheimer Resource Center in collaboration with the Seminole County Sheriff’s office has implemented “Project Lifesaver®,” a program to locate individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Down syndrome and other cognitive disorders. This internationally acclaimed program to help quickly locate missing individuals will soon be available to residents of Seminole County. The mission of Project Lifesaver® is to provide peace of mind to families, caregivers, institutions and communities by making available a reliable, proactive search and rescue program in partnership with local law enforcement and public safety agencies. Project Lifesaver utilizes tracking equipment and client transmitter bracelet kits to locate those who have wandered. For further information regarding the program please contact Mandy Hoban, Project Lifesaver Coordinator at 407-843-1910 x 310.
