The Christian Service Center is a private, non-profit service agency which, since 1971, has provided the hurting of our community with programs designed to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The Center is supported by area churches, businesses, civic organizations, foundations, and individuals. Millions have been served regardless of race, religion, financial status, or the nature of their need.
Description:
The Christian Service Center for Central Florida was formed in 1971 by five downtown Orlando Churches seeking to reaching out to those in need. Our mission has been based on the Gospel of Matthew 25:35ff where Jesus exhorts the disciples to "feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the sick" to "the least of these My brethren." For 30+ years, Christian Service Center
has been the helping arm of over 250 area churches by providing financial assistance in the form of rent, utilities, bus tickets and prescriptive medicines. In addition we give away hundreds of bags of groceries each week of canned and non-perishable foods that have been donated by churches,
individuals, groups, businesses, etc. Six days a week in downtown Orlando we serve "the best soup in town" to almost 350 hungry people at noon in "Daily Bread." Good, clean new and used clothes are donated and placed in one of our Thrift Stores. Anyone may come in and shop and find very affordable clothing. Clients who are in need of clothing and cannot afford the minimal prices, are seen by a Case Manager in our Family and Emergency Services Department and are issued a Clothing Voucher to be used to attain the needed items.
