Catholic Charities offers counseling for individual, marriage,couple and families by State of Florida licensed counselors. We also offer Adoption and Pregnancy Counseling Services. Our Emergency Family Services offers short term financial assistance,case management,budget counseling,referral to community services, rent or utility payments to avoid eviction or service disconnection. Our Semoran Food Pantry serves Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties. This non-profit food distribution center serves needy families, regardless of race, religion or ethnic origin. This service is designed to be of assistance on an emergency, short-term basis when a family faces a crisis. It meets needs when a breadwinner is unable to work, when a family is awaiting Food Stamps approval or when financial demands on a family budget makes food purchases difficult. Each week the Pantry processes and distributes more than 2 tons of products, including a complete line of staples, groceries, beverages, meat and cheese products, bread and bakery items, frozen food, diapers, special diet foods (e.g., diabetic), paper products, (toilet tissue, towels) personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo), laundry soap and other items which become available from time to time. Each recipient is carefully screened by a caseworker to determine the extent of need. This program is funded by donations from individuals, groups and businesses, Catholic Charities and the United Way. Our Immigration and Refugee departments help recent immigrants arriving in Central Florida. Immigration department assists with applying for residency, work authorization, and citizenship. Refugee services aids refugees resettle families, housing, employment and youth services. Think Smart is a abstinence program taught at the public and private schools. The program teaches children to abstain from drugs,alcohol,violence,racism,and premarital sex. Our Criminal Justice office encompasses Prison and Jail Ministry, Juvenile Justice,Crime Victim Assistance, and Law Enforcement Outreach. Criminal Justice office depends strictly on volunteers who are trained to go out into the community,the prison and jails to minister, and teach young people preventive means of staying out of the "system". Through the counseling center the Criminal Justice office offers Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement Outreach with counseling services. Pathways to Care is a 40 bed, respite center dedicated to providing short-term recuperative care to poor, medically underserved adults.
